22 August 2011 Update

August 22, 2011

Hi everyone- 3 weeks since our last update summary! Here’s a list of what we’ve added since then. We’ve tweeted or facebooked most of these as they were posted, so this all might be old news to you.

We’ve added a couple of new dates for Glen in Europe this fall, one in Prague (this may be sold out now or close to it) & one in Letterkenny, IE. Both of these gigs, as well as 4 others, feature Glen’s longtime mate Mark Geary as support. See Glen’s full list of dates here, or as usual at theswellseason.com or theframes.ie. An additional way of keeping up with Glen is his Official Facebook page.

We were really excited to post up 13 videos from Glen’s recent gig in Telc, CZ at the Holidays In Telc Festival. It’s his full performance minus videos of new, unreleased songs. This was an extraordinary performance so take the time to go through and check it out.

Last time we mentioned part 1 of a Hot Press interview & performance with the guys at Electric Picnic in 2006. We put up the other 6 parts of this very cool interview here.

And more!
+ a really lovely and extensive interview Graham did with drummer Mike Dolebear at his blog
+ a new short vid clip from Glen’s MET show in NYC in May
+ another video of the Billie Jean cover from The Frames’ 20th anniversary gig in Seattle
+ another review from Glen & Eddie V’s first night at the Beacon Theater in NYC
+ St. Louis dates added for screening of The Swell Season movie

+ pages for Glen’s other most recent gigs in Iceland, CZ, Ireland (Cork) and just this week in LA:
23 July -Borgarfjörður-Eystri, Iceland, Braedslan Festival (setlist, video)
26 July – Reykjavic, Iceland, Cafe Rosenberg (preview, fan review, video)
29 July – Náměšť nad Oslavou, CZ, Folk Holidays Festival (video)
30 July – Telc, CZ, Holidays in Telc (setlist, videos)

31 July – Cúil Aodha, County Cork, IE, Féile na Laoch (Festival of Heroes)
(previews, setist, video)
17 August – Los Angeles, CA, The Hollywood Bowl (as part of a Joni Mitchell tribute performance) (setlist, reviews, video)

Alrighty, that’s it for now. Just like The Happenings, we’ll see yoooou in September…

29 July 2011 Update

July 29, 2011

Heeellooooo! Long time no posty. We’ve just a few updates to share….

As most everyone knows now, Glen’s heading out to tour Europe in September & October. We have the dates here. He’ll be bringing Mark Geary along for some of the shows as well. Get more info at www.theframes.ie. Also it was noted there that Glen’s solo album is set for release in 2012.

We’ve caught up on the gig pages for the Eddie Vedder tour (see below for a few details). One special audio bit we added was a wonderful story Eddie told in Seattle about meeting a young fan in Ireland in 1996. Have a listen for a good cheer up.

Other:
+ Gig pages for both Iceland shows- the Braedslan Festival and Cafe Rosenberg. Setlist for one, videos for both. More videos from Cafe show coming soon.
+ Glen won’t be the only Frame in Europe this fall- Rob Bochnik will be touring with Marketa so we’ve added the dates here.
+ Ed tour: reviews for Seattle 1, Oakland, Chicago 1, Millennium Park (a pics link)
+ cute new fan story at Your Stories about meeting Glen at the Beacon in NYC last month
+ an old Hot Press video interview with the band and an old tv interview with Glen- in the TV section
+ Q+A with the Swell Season doc makers

We do have a few more things on the to do list so once those get up and done we’ll let ya know! In the meantime, here’s an oldie in case you’re newer around here. When we started the site we had this idea to highlight certain songs we each loved and why. As things got busier with actual content we’ve sort of abandoned it. Hope to revive it eventually! Here’s Shannon’s look at Hollocaine…

7 July 2011 Update

July 7, 2011

Hi folks! Long time no post. Hope everyone’s summer is going well and you all are staying cool (or warm, wherever ye may be!).

Here’s a list of the updates we’ve made since our last post:

As previously mentioned on Twitter & Facebook today, we added a full gig video from Novy Jicin, CZ on 29 June 2002. We may be lacking some accurate info on this so if you have any, please send along! The gig features Simon on guitar this time and a fill-in for Colm (we’d love to have a name!) and appearances by Josh Ritter and Marketa. Some really great moments here including an amazing cover of Nirvana’s ‘Breed’.

We’ve been keeping up with Glen’s dates with Eddie, you can find links to setlists and sometimes reviews & ticket scans here. Not really any photos or videos since the tour has been specifically asking people not to take any.

There’s an mp3 of Glen and Mark Geary performing Star Star together at the Cape Cinema show in Dennis, MA last month.

The rest:
+ added a new date for Glen in September in the Netherlands
+ Rob will be touring with Marketa in the fall in Europe so we are keeping track of the dates here
+ a poster and more reviews/videos from Glen’s opener with Low in Chicago
+ made a page for Glen’s most recent appearance at a Doveman Burgundy Stain Session at LPR in NYC
+ some lovely photos and a video of ‘Heyday’ to the Frames’ Vicar Street gig from last month
+ some fantastic photos to the Frames’ gig at the Marquee in Cork the same weekend
+ a video of Glen doing ‘Finally’ at a cafe in San Fran back in 2006
+ a couple of photos from the Philly gig and 1 from Chicago on the 20th anniversary tour in November
+ a video of Glen playing REM’s Hairshirt in San Fran (also from the 20th tour)
+ a gorgeous poster designed by Hero Design for Glen’s gig at the MET in May
+ a review of the Swell Season movie to the Swell Season documentary page

See you next time!

24 June Update!

June 24, 2011

Hi guys! Lots of activity up in here this past week. We got a boost of energy from our trip up north for Glen’s gigs, both in the city & out on Cape Cod…gorgeous! It was great to meet some of our fellow Frames fans who visit OITS!

Ok here we go, updates for this week:
+ we freshened up a little, switching out all the home page photos and rearranging the menu a bit to make information easier to find.

+ Frames fan Dave put together a really great compilation of old, live Frames songs, partly as a primer for newer fans of the band just now discovering them through Glen’s opening slot on the Eddie Vedder tour (but also, of course, for all the longtime fans to enjoy)

+ we added 2 old radio interviews/performances: 17 Sept 2004- Burn The Maps release day special on RTE1 & an appearance on Strange Cargo in 1999

+ added pages for each of Glen’s 5 gigs with Eddie so far, mostly set lists, reviews, comments (photos/videos hard to come by on this tour)

+ made a page for Glen’s epic gig with Mark Geary at Cape Cinema on Cape Cod. We try not to throw around the word epic too much, but this time it applies. Set list, videos, photos (we need more photos! anyone?). Might have a song up for you soon too.

+ video added to Vicar Street 9 June gig page
+ lots more photos added to De Barra’s 10 June gig page
+ review, lots of photos and video to Marquee 11 June gig page
+ 3 more reviews to the Swell Season movie page

Ok that’s all for now, but we have more coming up real soon! Have a great weekend friends….

Weekly Update / 15 June

June 15, 2011

Our To Do list for the site keeps growing while our time to work on it dwindles (summer, work, etc), but be assured there is plenty to come, it just may be at a slower pace with more Twitter & Facebook updates taking the place of full updates every week.

With that, of course we’ve filled up the 3 gig pages from the weekend with all sorts of goodies and more to be added. It was marvelous to read everyone’s reports of the gigs here and there and thanks to all the folks who got in touch with us over the weekend!

In addition to those:
+ a very cool 1995 radio interview and songs (including Feeling The Pull) with Glen at Dublin South Community Radio (we have a slew of old radio interviews to post up, so keep your eyes in the Radio section if you’re into those!)
+ another 1995 radio interview and songs with full band- Angel At My Table & wonderful cover of The Beatles’ Tomorrow Never Knows
+ a new date for Glen, 23 July in Iceland!
+ a 2009 interview with Glen and Mar at Amoeba Records including video of What’s In Your Bag? In Press.
+ The Swell Season movie has been acquired and will be on limited release in the Fall
+ a new The Swell Season movie review from Variety ahead of the Silver Docs premier next week

So the two of us are off on a much needed road trip this weekend to see Glen a few times ourselves! We’ll try to say hello from the road…have a great weekend everyone!
