Hosting TG4’s Geantraí programme

March 1, 2011

In February 2009, Colm hosted TG4’s Geantraí programme along with his brother Darach. Colm hosts the show and plays along with several other musicians, including: David Sheridan (flute), Tony Byrne (guitar), Mairead Herlihy (concertina), Fergal O’Neill (fiddle), Oliver O’Loughlin (accordion), Darach Mac Con Iomaire (fiddle), Frank Tate (bouzuki), Paul Dooley (harp), Eoin Dillon (Uillean pipes), Aoife Nic Cormaic (fiddle) and Glen Hansard (guitar). Here are some clips from the episode:

ETA: 28 December 2012 we’ve added a video of the whole episode that irishmusiccentral uploaded to YT.

Lollapalooza 2006 // Chicago

February 28, 2011

We’re making an effort to regularly share things from the site with you all since there’s so much to see/hear/read…sometimes here, sometimes Twitter, sometimes Facebook. Sometimes all 3, like today! This is a favorite gig of ours, even though it’s not a full set. There’s a great video of Glen (and Rob!) dancing w/Beatle Bob (Wiki him) during God Bless Mom & we’ve posted Underglass from the show, just a part of an official recording you can get on iTunes of most of the performance.

Weekly Update // 23 Feb.

February 23, 2011

Breaking free of the Thursday update format! We’ve added just a few things recently, so behold…

If you are a newer fan you might not know about this gem of a piece from 2003. TodayFM radio did an almost 2 hour documentary called Revelations: The Story of the Frames. It’s about just what it says there and aired the same week as Set List was released. This is a must listen if you haven’t heard it before. You can stream it on the site or just go ahead and download all of the parts.

In addition this week:
A link to a fantastic interview with Glen after he joined Levon Helm at the most recent Midnight Ramble on 12 February.

A link to a piece/interview with The Independent (UK) from April 2005.

Lastly, we’ve added several new videos of songs already posted to the 7 December 2010 Brussels gig (Finally, Happy, Lay Me Down, Keepsake, Rent Day Blues, Pavement Tune, Star Star – Hotellounge, Revelate, Your Face, Santa Maria). Unfortunately the audio is frequently muffled/distorted, but they were shot from the front row, so if you wanted to be up front in Brussels but couldn’t quite get there, here ya go!

Special thanks to Sara & Laura this week and, as always, if you have anything Frames related to share, please do so! If you take part in online shenanigans, give us a follow at Facebook and Twitter so we can bug you over there too.
