Indeed the 30th anniversary celebration is finally happening 28 May in Dublin at Royal Kilmainham Hospital. Here’s to 32 years as a band! Unfortunately the US Gigs from last Fall have been cancelled so at this time the Dublin party is the only one. Lucky you to everyone who is attending!
Sadly The Frames gig for June has been moved a full year to 19 June, 2021. You can see the Facebook post here and read Claire’s note below.
Thanks for bearing with us on this one, but unfortunately as I’m sure we could all foresee, we’ve no choice but to postpone the frames 30th and make it the frames 31st instead!! (hopefully!!!)
Oh my, I’m sure you’re all with me when I say that we all sincerely look very much forward to the time when we can gather and sing and dance and play music and generally enjoy each others company – you really don’t know what you got til its gone..
Be good and stay well…big virtual love from all of us cx
While GH gig pages have been going strong, we haven’t posted a news bit in almost exactly 2 years! As you probably already know, The Frames will be celebrating their big 30 this summer with a gig in Dublin on June 20th. The gig is sold out! Here’s the details that came out with the announcement:
The Frames : 30
Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin
Saturday June 20th 2020
Special guests to be announced
“There’s something about stepping back into the furious belly of this beast where the low bells chime around the parish, where time is swallowed and years slip by, this place where most of my hearing went in the sound of working it out from soaring angst to occasional pride into unmoored middle age. The songs grow too and change their meaning, till it all collapses together into the glorious bonfire that is The Frames…” – Glen Hansard
“A significant birthday should be celebrated. 2020 will mark The Frames’ 30th journey around the Sun. Most of that time has been spent travelling around the World, in and in celebration of, music. Where better to celebrate? One night in Dublin! Come join us!” – Colm Mac Con Iomaire
Hello! We just passed our 7th birthday here at OITS. Yes! We’re currently in the process of doing a lot of much needed cleaning up around here so bear with us if you find any broken links or whatnot. We’re also keeping up with Glen’s current tour (over here) for his latest release Between Two Shores as he’s got Joe & Rob among others along with him as well Thanks for visiting!
As part of their Christmas programming, Today FM aired highlights from all 3 of The Frames’ Irish anniversary gigs from the summer. You can listen back to the programme (in 2 parts) and see the running order of songs below. Also, below see a Myles O’Reilly video of “Dream Awake” from Cork. Stellar.
On an administrative note: Did you know this site turned 5 years old this month?! We’re so happy about all the folks who’ve enjoyed it all these years, it’s been nice meeting so many of you.
In the past we’ve endeavored to post news here for every current Frames band member as it arises, but from now on we’ll focus on just Frames news. Band member news can be found at their respective websites. Also, keep an eye on our twitter & facebook pages as those will continue to go on with news about everyone. We WILL continue to log GH gig pages & press and Colm gigs & press.
Thank you and have a wonderful start to the new year!
