Hello to the PJ/EV fans!

June 21, 2011

We’ve noticed a lot of folks coming our way since Glen started performing on Eddie Vedder’s Ukelele Tour so we just wanted to say hi and welcome! Our site is dedicated to Glen’s longtime band The Frames as well as Glen’s solo adventures and some Swell Season stuff, so there’s a lot to watch, see, read and listen to. Here’s the short tour:

If you head over to the Video Series page you check out The Frames’ breakthrough performance at Witnness in 2001 (a blistering rock set packed with live favorites), or the more low-key acoustic Sauna Sessions from 2002 (where the musicianship is front and center). If it’s solo singer-songwriter action you’re into, please enjoy some videos recorded at an intimate venue on Cape Cod when Glen had a day off from the Eddie tour last week.

Additionally, longtime Pearl Jam and Frames fan Dave has curated a mix tape of sorts filled with a bunch of rare live performances going all the way back to 1993. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but weren’t we all back then? Something here for everyone, from hardcore Frames fans to those who are just now hearing of them for the first time.

Weekly Update / 15 June

June 15, 2011

Our To Do list for the site keeps growing while our time to work on it dwindles (summer, work, etc), but be assured there is plenty to come, it just may be at a slower pace with more Twitter & Facebook updates taking the place of full updates every week.

With that, of course we’ve filled up the 3 gig pages from the weekend with all sorts of goodies and more to be added. It was marvelous to read everyone’s reports of the gigs here and there and thanks to all the folks who got in touch with us over the weekend!

In addition to those:
+ a very cool 1995 radio interview and songs (including Feeling The Pull) with Glen at Dublin South Community Radio (we have a slew of old radio interviews to post up, so keep your eyes in the Radio section if you’re into those!)
+ another 1995 radio interview and songs with full band- Angel At My Table & wonderful cover of The Beatles’ Tomorrow Never Knows
+ a new date for Glen, 23 July in Iceland!
+ a 2009 interview with Glen and Mar at Amoeba Records including video of What’s In Your Bag? In Press.
+ The Swell Season movie has been acquired and will be on limited release in the Fall
+ a new The Swell Season movie review from Variety ahead of the Silver Docs premier next week

So the two of us are off on a much needed road trip this weekend to see Glen a few times ourselves! We’ll try to say hello from the road…have a great weekend everyone!

Weekly Update / 9 June

June 9, 2011

Ok this actually non-update update for this week, but we wanted to note that over the next few days you can keep your eyes on Frames 2011 as we fill in the dates with goodies from the gigs. If you’re one of the lucky bastards fans going to 1 or all of the shows, we’d love to hear about it! Especially the set lists or a story or, of course, photos and videos if it’s ok to take those at the venue. We’ll tweetly tweet & facebook at you as we get them filled in.

We did add one new page to the site- a place to post news about ‘Once’ heading to the stage as a musical in the Fall in NYC. Glen & Mar wrote the lyrics and music specifically for the off-Broadway performance and Enda Walsh wrote the script (or, book, as its called in theatre apparently).

Other than that we’re just SO DAMN EXCITED for everyone heading to Vicar Street, De Barra’s & the Marquee!!

Weekly Update / 2 June

June 2, 2011

Short and sweet this week….we were excited to hear the news about a third Frames gig being added to the upcoming dates in a couple of weeks in Ireland (even though we can’t be there)! Apparently everyone else was too because it sold out in about 10 minutes, but we hear De Barra’s is a tiny place, so good times for all the lucky folks who got tickets! So 9, 10 & 11 June dates are all listed here.

In addition to that, we’ve got:
+ finally finished up the Discography
+ made a page for Glen’s performance at the MET in NYC with partial set list, photos, reviews and loads of videos
+ added a very cool sounding interview (scroll to the bottom of the page) Colm did with the Gaelic radio show Raidio Na Life. Note: Colm’s album The Hare’s Corner was recently released in the UK. Colm/The Hare’s Corner now has a page on Facebook too.
+ The Swell Season movie will be opening the Silver Docs Documentary Festival in Silver Springs, MD on 20 June.

Oh, and you can get tickets to see Glen & Jake Clemons at Whelan’s on 7 June here!

That’s it for now guys and gals. Around this time next week a lot of you will be with the lads at Vicar Street!

on raidio na life

June 1, 2011

Colm recently did an interview with Raidio Na Life. It’s in Gaelic so we don’t know what they’re talking about aside from Dylan’s 70th birthday. Anyone feel free to send along a translation of the interview. Listen here at Soundcloud.
