allegedly it was supposed to be a bit of a year ‘off’, but it hasnt
really worked out that way… not complaining – just saying… there’s
a good few things going on this year… and i know that this is
really a frames newsletter, but, most of the things that are occurring
right now are not strictly frames.
HOWINEVER – the frames together with our friends, the mary janes –
would like to announce that we will be having a mic christopher night
in vicar street on november 29th. its just mad to think that this
year will be the 10th anniversary of mics death. we want to mark it.
we want to sing his songs. we want to gather together with friends and
remember. to be really honest with you, i dont know precisely how it
is going to work on the night, but im sure it will all come together
in proper order. it will not be a frames gig as such, or a mary janes
gig – but both bands will effectively be backing various singers
(glen included) who will sing either mic solo songs, or mj’s songs or
relevant cover songs, or indeed, anything that springs to mind in
connection to our friend… hope that makes sense and is enough of a
description to whet your appetite!! all proceeds from this gig are
going to be given to the irish fragile x society, so your support will
be doubly, triply and more-so appreciated.
tickets will go on sale on friday, 7th oct at 9am from ticketmaster
ok? tix will be 26 yo yos.
in other news, mr hansard is thoroughly enjoying a bit of a busmans
holiday around europe right now. i just heard from mark that they’ve
arrived into berlin and are catching up on some zeds before the gig
tonight. im jealous of the places he’s been able to go and play, and
envious of some of you that seem to be able to follow him around too!
sounds like the gigs have been very special. i know that glens been
enjoying them, and from reading some of the reviews from fans that are
out there, sounds like the audience is having a blast too…one thing
i need to reiterate is that we really do appreciate it when you
respect the ‘no new songs on the net’ rule. older songs that have
been recorded, released is fine, but when you have a new germ of a
song that is changing daily and is not fully formed or recorded, it
really is something that is to be shared with the folks in the room
only and not the rest of the world. thanks for your understanding in
this, it really is appreciated.
so, glen does berlin, then barcelona then comes home for a matt
molloys in mayo on oct 11th (all of which are sold out im afraid) and
then an an grianian in l.k on the 12th (which actually still has some
tickets left), and then down to dublin st anns church (sorry – sold
out..). all these shows from tonight onwards are supported by mr
mark geary, who – it would be remiss of me not to mention – has his
own headline show in the workmans club in dublin on oct 21st.

another young lady that is very close to our hearts and flying solo
right now is marketa. she has her own debut album coming out this
month called anar. (persian for pomegranate i do believe), and to
support this beautiful debut, she is taking some friends on the road
to play the music live. our own rob bochnik is part of the band on
gtr, together with aida shahghasemi on persian drums and mr tim iseler
on bass gtr. id imagine its safe to say that mar will be seen behind
a keyboard of some description…..
their tour starts in europe on oct 18 at bush hall london, 20
amstelkerk amsterdam, 22 botanique orangerie, brussells, 23 supporting
brigette in lille, france, 24 divan du monde paris, 26 musikhalle

i keep getting asked exactly when its coming out and where, but at
this point i just dont know, sorry. its not really in our hands. the
distributors are working on getting it into film festivals and cinemas
worldwide. i know it comes out in korea soon, but thats not going to
be of much use to folks in tallaght…if i hear any news, ill let you
know of course.
i should mention too that glen is going to be playing the nyc version
of other voices in late october. tix here
http://lepoissonrouge.com/events/search?q=other+voices
…and its rather surreal to be writing that ‘once’ the musical opens
on dec 6th in the nytw.. tickets will be going on sale on oct 7th!.
