Another project Rob is involved in, The Butcher Shop Quartet, will be performing 3 shows in May to support their recent release, “The Rite of Spring”. This record & shows commemorate the 100th anniversary of the “riot inducing” Paris debut of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring.
The Butchershop Quartet’s version of the Rite of Spring was released in March 2004 in time for a series of performances with choreographer Julie Atlas Muz as part of the 2004 Whitney Biennial in New York City. Two new members, Nathaniel Braddock (guitar) and Dan Sylvester (drums) joined in place of Rob Bochnik and Dylan Posa, both having left Chicago. Upon completion of the tour the new group reconvened at Electrical Audio Recording to capture their rendition. Engineered by Greg Norman, the tapes sat until late 2012 when Bochnik, having since returned to Chicago, set about mixing them with plans to release them in conjunction with a few select performances celebrating the 100 year debut of Stravinsky’s masterpiece.
